Anche quest’anno il Dipartimento di Lingue ha proposto il progetto Let’s Go, che da oltre dieci anni offre alle classi partecipanti un’importante occasione di potenziamento linguistico e approfondimento culturale, consentendo alle nostre allieve e ai nostri allievi un’immersione nella lingua e nella cultura inglese.
Nonostante i numerosi ostacoli incontrati in questa edizione per portare a termine l’iniziativa, alla fine la proposta si è concretizzata grazie anche al contributo dei docenti e delle docenti di Lingue dell’Istituto, della Dirigenza, delle famiglie e delle/gli allieve/i che hanno creduto nel progetto e visto premiata la propria perseveranza. Tra maggio e giugno, quindi, alcune classi sono partite per le destinazioni di Londra e Malta.
Londra si è riconfermata la meta ideale per l’apprendimento linguistico, grazie alle numerose sollecitazioni offerte dal contesto culturale, sociale e urbano, e alle visite ai luoghi simbolo della città e ai suoi grandi musei. Le allieve e gli allievi hanno migliorato la spontaneità e le capacità di interazione in lingua inglese, grazie alle attività didattiche proposte durante il corso frequentato e al contatto con famiglie ospitanti. Hanno imparato ad orientarsi nella capitale britannica, in autonomia se pur assieme alle/ai loro docenti, e hanno avuto modo di riflettere sulla multi-culturalità, l’importanza del senso civico e del rispetto delle regole di cui la città può vantarsi.
Allo stesso modo, il soggiorno-studio a Malta ha rappresentato per gli allievi e le allievi un’importante opportunità di cogliere il profondo legame tra culture, lingua e civiltà: con la sua storia millenaria, il suo crogiuolo di diverse culture e le sue bellezze naturali. Malta ha regalato un’esperienza ricca di arte e cultura, consentendo di migliorare le capacità di adattamento vivendo a contatto con le famiglie del luogo.
I soggiorni-studio Let’s Go propongono da anni un’esperienza intensa e significativa, che coinvolge vari ambiti (famiglia, scuola, scoperta di nuovi luoghi, dimensione relazionale) e che rafforza la fiducia in se stessi e l’autonomia personale. E’ un’occasione per stimolare studenti e studentesse ad una maggiore curiosità nei confronti della cultura britannica e, più in generale, una maggiore apertura verso il nuovo, il diverso, l’esperienza del viaggio e della condivisione con i compagni e le compagne di classe.
Al ritorno dal viaggio le allieve e gli allievi appaiono più sicure/i di sé nell’interagire in lingua straniera e maggiormente motivate/i nell’apprendimento dell’Inglese. Tutti e tutte portano con sé ricordi indelebili che potranno dare avvio a un percorso personale e culturale destinato a creare risultati significativi nella formazione delle nostre ragazze e dei nostri ragazzi.

CLASSE 4^ AER A

‘Attending the language school was very useful for my studies. Because I had to speak English all the time, I became more fluent and confident. The lessons were very different from our usual ones in Italy: the teachers focused heavily on speaking and often asked us to give presentations in front of the class. This interactive approach made learning more dynamic and exciting.’
“The Let’s Go study trip was an amazing experience that helped me grow as a person. Besides improving my English, I am coming home with more self-confidence and many beautiful memories shared with my friends. ‘During the trip, I lived with a local host family. This was a very important part of the experience. The family was very welcoming. They helped us practice our English at breakfast and dinner. The house was clean and comfortable. Eating English food was a bit strange for me compared to Italian food, but it was interesting to try new dishes like traditional fish and chips and their typical breakfast. John and Linda will always remain in my heart because they helped us in every situation.’
“At the Wimbledon language school, the lessons were more interactive. We did a lot of speaking games, group work, and discussions. This helped me lose my fear of speaking English.”
‘I think this trip helped me grow as a person. I became more confident with speaking English and less afraid of making mistakes. Before this experience I was often shy when speaking English with strangers, but in London I started talking more naturally with people. Even if I made mistakes, I understood that communication is more important than perfection. I also learned how to live for a week with different habits, different routines and different people.
This experience opened my mind and made me more independent.
In conclusion, I can say that this study trip was one of the best school experiences I have ever had. It was not only useful for improving English, but also for discovering a new culture and learning many things outside the classroom. I would definitely recommend this experience to other students because it can help you improve your language skills, become more open-minded and create unforgettable memories.’

CLASSE 4^ LSA B
‘My trip to London was a very enriching experience and one that I will remember for a long time. What impressed me the most was how different the English school environment was compared to the Italian one. The atmosphere felt calm, relaxed and stimulating at the same time. Students were encouraged to be creative and independent through practical and hands-on activities, which I found both surprising and inspiring. Another aspect that struck me was the difference in culinary habits. Even though England is not geographically far from Italy, the approach to food is completely different and, in my opinion, generally less healthy. The people also seemed quite different from Italians: generally less talkative and sociable, but still polite and respectful. However, our host family, the McCluskeys, completely broke that stereotype, since they were incredibly friendly, welcoming and chatty.’
‘London itself exceeded my expectations. Despite being such a large metropolis, I found it clean, well organised and extremely functional. The Underground was efficient and easy to use, making the city feel surprisingly accessible and easy to explore. One thing I truly admired was the fact that most museums are free, despite the priceless masterpieces they contain. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to see in person works of art that I had previously only studied in class, such as The Arnolfini Portrait, The Virgin of the Rocks, The Ambassadors and Saint Jerome in His Study. It was exciting not only from an artistic perspective, but also because the trip gave me a glimpse of subjects I will study more deeply next year, including literature and history. Seeing portraits of famous English writers made literature feel more real and engaging, while the Science Museum fascinated me with Alan Turing’s Enigma machine. I was especially interested in it because I had already seen the movie about him and his invention, and I was surprised by how much smaller the machine was than I had imagined. ‘
‘Talking about the city again, I was also amazed by the grandeur of London’s landmarks, such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Palace of Westminster, the London Eye, the Natural History Museum, the British Museum and the National Gallery. I really enjoyed walking along Oxford Street as well: not only for shopping, although it was quite expensive, but also because of its lively atmosphere. Another memorable moment was visiting St James’s Park on the way to Buckingham Palace. The park felt like a peaceful green oasis in the middle of the city. Even though we did not get to see the Changing of the Guard, we were lucky enough to come across a marching band parade, which made the experience special anyway. The Tower of London was equally impressive. I enjoyed learning about the Beefeaters and the strict requirements needed to become guards of the Tower. The Crown Jewels were absolutely stunning, I wish I could have one of them!
This trip left me with wonderful memories, not only because of the places I visited and the things I learned, but also thanks to my classmates, with whom I get along very well. Even though I only joined the class this year, I felt truly included and I grew very attached to them during this experience. I hope to return to London one day to visit the museums I missed, such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the RAF Museum, and maybe even buy something from Harrods!’
‘[…] In the afternoons we visited the city and discovered many famous places and museums, such as the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the National Gallery. We also saw many important monuments around London and learned a lot about its history and culture.
Another important part of the experience was living with a host family in Wimbledon. We had to organise ourselves using public transport every day to move around London, and this helped us become more independent and responsible. Even simply walking around Wimbledon on our own and managing our daily routine made us feel more confident and mature.
We were also very lucky with our host family because they welcomed us warmly from the first day. The house was beautiful, the food was very good and they always treated us kindly, making us feel comfortable during the whole stay.’
‘Going to London was a really nice experience for me and something different from our normal school routine. From the first day, I felt excited because I could finally experience the city in real life and not only through photos or books. During this trip, I had the opportunity to improve my English, become more independent, and spend more time with my classmates. What I liked the most was definitely the atmosphere at school and the way the lessons were organized. Our class was mixed with another class from our school, and this created a very friendly and relaxed environment. The teachers were always kind, positive, and helpful, and they made the lessons interesting and never boring. We practiced speaking a lot, and little by little I felt more confident using English without worrying too much about making mistakes. In the afternoons, we visited many famous places around London, but the place that impressed me the most was the Tower of London. I found it really fascinating because of its history and its atmosphere, and seeing it in person was much more interesting than studying it in class. I also enjoyed walking around the city, using the underground, and discovering new places every day with my classmates. Spending so much time together also helped me create even stronger bonds with my classmates, and we shared many funny and unforgettable moments. Overall, this trip helped me improve my English, but most importantly it gave me the chance to grow as a person, discover a different culture, and make memories that I will always remember.’
‘My experience in London was something I will always remember. During the trip, we had the chance to improve our English in a practical way. Every morning we followed lessons where we worked a lot on speaking and pronunciation, and this helped me feel more confident day after day.
In the afternoon, we spent time discovering the city. We visited many important museums and famous places, and it was really interesting to see everything with our own eyes instead of just studying it in class.
We stayed in Wimbledon with a host family, which was an important part of the experience. They were very welcoming and kind. Even though the house was quite small, it helped us learn how to adapt and share our space. It wasn’t always easy, but it made the experience more real and meaningful.
Living in a different country, even for a short time, made me realize that the best way to truly learn a language is to be surrounded by it, especially by native speakers or by having experiences abroad.
Overall, this trip was not only useful for improving English, but also for growing as a person and creating stronger friendships with my classmates.
What I liked the most was visiting famous and fascinating place like Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Camden Town and the British Museum. Each place had something unique and special, and I really enjoyed discovering the history, culture and atmosphere of the city. I also loved exploring the streets, visiting shops and cafés, and spending time with my classmates during the day. London is a very lively and multicultural city, full of history and different cultures.
This experience taught me to be more independent and open-minded. Living for a week in another country helped me to adapt to new situations and discover a different lifestyle.
I will remember the atmosphere of the city, the underground journeys, the lessons at CES School and all the moments shared with my friends. It was an important experience that I will always carry with me.’

‘Our school trip to London was an amazing and unforgettable experience for all of us. The program was organized to help us learn and have fun at the same time. CLASSI 4^CBA A e 4^CMA A – LONDRA
The LET’S GO project allowed our classes, 4^CBA A and 4^CMA A, accompanied by our English teachers, to go on a school trip to London-Wimbledon from 27th May to 2nd June. We attended a 15-hour English course at CES (Centre of English Studies), one of the most well-known schools in the United Kingdom, specialized in teaching English to foreign students. Thanks to this project, we had the unique opportunity to be immersed in an entirely different reality. Not only did we visit one of the most well-known cities in the world, but we could also interact with highly qualified English teachers who assisted us in improving our skills. Furthermore, we could directly connect with the lifestyle of the British people by staying with host families selected by the school. Adapting to different habits and a different culture helped me become more flexible and independent, and it was useful for opening my mind to new perspectives. Moreover, having had the possibility to talk to native speakers, I could boost my confidence and fluency. Finally, it was such an amazing experience since I could strengthen my relationships with my classmates.

“Malta is a mixture of every possible culture, a bridge between the prehistoric, Roman and Arab past and the modern European present. We saw amazing prehistoric temples, a wonderful baroque cathedral, old forts, Arab towns like Mdina. What struck me most were Caravaggio’s paintings in the cathedral. I could have spent hours in front of them!”
‘The knights have made Malta a very rich place with palaces, churches, forts, an amazing architecture. A lot to see and remember. We had the time of our lives!’
“Il nostro viaggio di istruzione a Malta é stato un’esperienza formativa alla scoperta di una nuova cultura e di un miglioramento a livello delle nostre capacità linguistiche.
La partenza é stata domenica 24 Maggio, al nostro arrivo ci hanno accolto le famiglie ospitanti grazie alle quali siamo, fin da subito, riusciti a entrare nel cuore della tradizione maltese.
Ogni mattina abbiamo frequentato lezioni di inglese alla scuola IELS. Dopo il pranzo ci aspettava un programma ricco di attività, con lo scopo di conoscere ogni aspetto storico, culturale e paesaggistico di Malta.
Abbiamo visitato la capitale: Valletta e la sua maestosa cattedrale; le tre città Vittoriosa, Cospicua, Senglea, i templi preistorici, le catacombe di Sant’Agata e le scogliere di Dingli.
Infine, per concludere il viaggio, su una speed boat abbiamo raggiunto la Blue Lagoon e abbiamo fatto un tuffo nelle sue acque cristalline. C’era un paesaggio davvero mozzafiato. Questa esperienza é stato un mix di istruzione e divertimento, che ci ha uniti come classe e maturati come studenti.
